The Touch of the Isles

People coming up to my studio will quite likely find me holding a mug of strong tea (with milk and sugar) in my hand. Since my first visit to the British Isles in the 1970ties I never lost my love for tea - and my love for the Isles. No wonder you can find traces of Britain throughout my work.

Poetical Books ‘Roses’

The fabrics used to bind these books have very traditional patterns with roses, partly in fact they are designed like typical old English linen fabrics.

Old Age

is a poem written by Edmund Waller, who lived in 17th century Britain. In this piece of art work it comes together with a German translation (by Annette C. Disslin) and the Chinese calligraphy signs expressing ‘very old’.

The object is being presented in Kulturmühle Members’ annual group show during December 2007.

Psalm 104

The 104th Psalm is set in an ancient style Uncial type and accompanied by a celtic border linoprint. Deckle edge paper. 10 copies, signed and numbered.

Where the Red Poppies Dance!

Concertina-folding in a portfolio, text from the lyrics of the song „No Man‘s Land“ by Eric Bogle. Hand set from Trajanus, 6 wood cut illustrations rubbed off the block by hand, 12 pp, 250 by 310 mm (9,8 by 12,2 inch), deckle edge paper. Text in German, English lyrics available as handout on request or from the Eric Bogle website. 11 signed and numbered copies.

Did you like the battle, Sir?

The original text is a folksong by J. Richards and D. Pregg with the titel “The Battle”. Annette C. Disslin put it in German words, composed it by hand from a very much used Post-Antiqua and a couple of different Bodonis. It is printed on a strong chamois deckle edge paper.
Standard edition: 4 one-of-a-kinds (2003/2008) numbered by Arabic numerals
Special edition: 8 one-of-a-kinds (2003), numbered by Roman numerals, the text being printed after the paper had been painted with colours made purely from earth pigments in the shades of earth and blood.
