Lushin

Vladimir Nabokov’s novel on a genius chess player fascinated me from the first moment I read it. This is a portfolio with 6 woodcuts and 6 typographic prints.

Casting type at Greno’s printing office

Guenter and of course Tita are of great help casting our Baskerville type on Mr Buser’s Monotype machines. The freshly cast type will come in handy when printing Little Niak (see above).

The Fox

When coming back from my one year stay at Keel University in 1985 I brought a music cassette with a couple of folk songs - one of them was “The Fox” telling the story of a huntingparty making a peculiar experiance.

Meanwhile a tiny platen machine had made its way to bleikloetzle: a genuine ADANA 8x5. And in 2001 Mr. Caslon was so kind to send us the required spare parts to get the little platen going again. It soon made a fine job in printing labels for jams. Santa Clause then worked hard to get the bigger platen around. Now the studio definitely looked stuffed.
